The signature event of the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the Phoenix Race for the Cure helps raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
The 'Race':
The term 'Race' is a bit misleading. There are actually 5 different events that you can register for (to run OR walk) and none are competitively timed. Four of the events are held in-person - a 1 mile (you can run or walk), a 5K Run for Breast
Cancer Survivor's (only), a 5K Run and a 5K Walk. For those that live out of state, work or attend church services on Sunday mornings or are just unable to join us, our fifth 'event' is Sleep In for the Cure® where you can register and support the Race 'virtually'.
The 2009 Race:
The 2009 Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure will be held in the State Capitol District of downtown Phoenix. Race activities including the Survivor and Co-Survivor Area (Pink Hat Cafe, Survivor Goodie Bags), Corporate Village (sponsor booths), and Registration and Packet Pick-Up will take place in Wesley Bolin Plaza. Each event will start at 17th Ave. and Adams St., circle the Capitol Building and head East to Copper Square before returning to the finish line East of 17th Ave. on Jefferson St.
