Komen Phoenix 2008-2009 Grant Recipients
Since 1996, the Komen Phoenix Affiliate has distributed over $11.1 million to breast education, screening and treatment in Arizona as well as to the Komen Foundation Headquarters Research Grant Program. Through the Affiliate’s year-round fund raising efforts, along with our hundreds of dedicated volunteers, the Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure® participants, sponsors and friends, we are making a difference to end breast cancer forever. This year the Phoenix Affiliate granted over $2.3 million. $1.85 million was granted to 30 organizations and over $519,000 was funded to the Komen Award and Research Grant Program. Arizona Dept. of Health Services Arizona Department of Health Services Arizona's Children Association - Golden Gate Community Center 280 women from West Central Phoenix neighborhoods will receive a mammogram at eight different screening events throughout the year. Asian Pacific Community in Action This program will educate 200 Asian and Pacific Islander women about breast health. Banner Desert Medical Center This program will provide radiation oncology treatment services for patients in the east Valley. Banner Good Samaritan This program will provide free screening mammograms at the Laura Dreier Breast Center. Banner Good Samaritan This program will provide breast health treatment services at the Laura Dreier Breast Center. Black Nurses Association This program will educate minorities on the importance of breast health, encourage early screening to detect breast cancer, recommend lifestyle changes that reduce breast cancer risks and encourage sharing educational resources on breast health with others. Cancer Center at Flagstaff Medical Center This program will provide breast cancer treatment services. Casa Grande Regional Medical Center This program will provide 400 mammograms. Catholic Healthcare West Foundation - East Valley This program will provide breast cancer treatment services. Catholic Healthcare West Foundation - East Valley This program will provide screening and breast health education to 265 individuals in east Maricopa County and Pinal County. Flagstaff Medical Center This program will provide lymphedema management to 35 women with lymphedema resulting from breast cancer treatment. Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation This program will provide breast health information to native Americans. Gila River Health Care This program will provide 125 mammograms. Hopi Tribe This program will provide 155 mammograms and breast health educational events. John C. Lincoln Community Health Center This program will provide 150 mammograms, 100 diagnostic mammograms and other diagnostic procedures. Kingman Regional Medical Center This program will provide 450 screening and/or diagnostic mammograms. La Casa De Cristo Lutheran Church This program will provide 40 screening mammograms. La Paz Regional Hospital This program will provide 275 screening mammograms. Maricopa County Public Health Department This program will provide diagnostic and treatment services that are not covered under the scope of the Well Woman HealthCheck or any other program. Maricopa Health Foundation This program will provide radiation treatment to women for whom it is a critical and necessary part of their total breast cancer treatment. North Country Community Health Center This program will provide funding for diagnostic and treatment services not covered under the Well Woman HealthCheck Program. Phoenix Indian Medical Center This program will provide breast reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy. Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. This program will provide culturally sensitive breast health education. St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center This program will provide breast cancer diagnostic follow-up testing and breast cancer treatment services. The Junior League of Phoenix This program will provide 50 mammograms at their annual rummage sale at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in February 2009. The Nurses Office The Breast Health Diagnosis and Treatment Program will provide 120 mammograms, diagnostic follow-up services and assistance for treatment services.
