At Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, we make every penny count: 

Ensuring Quality Care for all - 75% of the net proceeds stay in central and northern Arizona to fund programs that focus on screening, education, and treatment.

Energizing Science to find the cures - 25% supports the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program.  We have supported virtually every major advance in breast cancer research over the past 25 years.  Through Susan G. Komen for the Cure research grant funds, Arizona has seen research monies returned back to our community through grants to Translational Genomics, Mayo Clinic and the University of Arizona Cancer Center.  The Phoenix affiliate has contributed over $4 million towards national research since our inception.

Our Impact - Since 1993, we have invested over $14 million in local grants to agencies in our central and northern Arizona communities. In 2008 alone, $1.7 million went to 28 local organizations that provide mammograms, treatment and breast cancer prevention and education information, such as Mission of Mercy, Banner Desert Cancer Center, Ak-Chin Indian Community and John C. Lincoln. 

It may be your donation that pushes us past a major turning point in discovering and delivering the cures.  On behalf of the women who will be diagnosed this year, next year and in the decade ahead, we urge you to do as much as you can as soon as you can.  You can rest assured we'll put your contribution to good use.

Just as each of us gives for a different reason, there are many different ways to give. Komen recognizes that each donor has a unique story and unique needs, and our various giving programs reflect that.

Marathon for the Cure™

Marathon for the Cure™, a program of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is a grassroots fundraising program offering runners the chance to join in the fight against breast cancer by running a full or half marathon.

Marathon for the Cure™ expands the reach of Komen beyond the 5k race and offers distance runners and aspiring distance runners the opportunity to raise much needed funds in support of Komen for the Cure’s vision of a world without breast cancer - all while training for and running in some of the most elite distance races in the world.

To participate in Marathon for the Cure™ as a runner in one of our “official marathon partners” races, a runner must commit to a fundraising minimum of $2,200.

To participate in any other full or half marathon you can still be a team member by committing to raise $250.

Circle of Promise

Susan G. Komen for the Cure launched the Circle of Promise campaign to engage African-Americans in its mission to end breast cancer forever by fostering increased awareness, support, empowerment and action. African-American women have the highest death rate and poorest survival rate of any other racial or ethnic group for breast cancer. In an effort to rewrite the story of African American women and breast cancer, Komen has pledged to decrease the mortality of African-Americans from breast cancer by increasing awareness of the risk of breast cancer, reducing pervasive myths in the community, encouraging breast self awareness leading to early detection and treatment and mobilizing the community to collectively fight for access to quality care for all.
