PHOENIX – (Nov. 22, 2011)
While National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has passed, the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is dedicated to its promise of creating a world without breast cancer year round. To fill a community need and to better reach its mission in the coming years, Komen Phoenix has recently added several new employees to its staff.

In this role, she will coordinate the Affiliate’s more than 1,300 full-time and seasonal volunteers and will help facilitate the various special events hosted by the Affiliate throughout the year. Bridget lives in the Glendale/Peoria area.
• Robin Hansen is the Affiliate’s Development Associate, She joins Komen Phoenix from a previous role with Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s national offices in Dallas. As Development Associate, Robin will assist with fund development through third-party relationships and special events. Robin lives in Chandler.

He will also serve as the first point of contact to those requesting breast health and breast cancer care support. Frank lives in Surprise.
“The Komen Phoenix Affiliate has made a significant impact in our community with an extremely small staff, but our team needed to grow to be able to keep up with the growing needs of our central and northern Arizona service area,” says Dan Costello, president of the Komen Phoenix board of directors. “This staff expansion is an investment in our mission, and one from which the entire community will benefit.”
Komen Phoenix is one of more than 120 Affiliates around the world dedicated to combating breast cancer. The Affiliate’s service area encompasses all of central and northern Arizona, including Apache, Coconino, Gila, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal and Yavapai counties. While perhaps best known for its signature fundraising event – the annual Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure – the Affiliate’s year-round activities include advocacy, community outreach, providing support to survivors and their families, additional fundraising events and activities, and granting funds to community organizations that help fulfill the Komen Promise.
