Grants policy revised

We appreciate the questions, concerns and the support that Komen Phoenix received this week regarding the Komen National’s new grants’ criteria. We are pleased that Susan G. Komen has amended its policy to state that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature (http://ww5.komen.org/KomenNewsArticle.aspx?id=19327354148).
 
This allows us to continue objectively administering the Komen Phoenix grants program in the same manner that we have done all along.  In our service area, we have granted more than $20 million specifically designated funds to support breast cancer screening, treatment and education programs.

We know that this revised policy does not address all of your concerns, but it does allow us at Komen Phoenix to return to what we do best – our mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever. Our promise to you is to never lose sight of that mission and our local impact.

And thanks to you, the local impact is tremendous. In our last granting cycle, we funded $1.8 million to support 19 grant programs focused on screening, treatment and education services throughout central and northern Arizona. Our grantees are doing remarkable things to reach the underserved and uninsured women and men in need of services, and we’re incredibly proud to be a part of their work.
